Secretary of Army Visits Fort Rucker

"Fort Rucker soldiers need to be ready to go to war." That was the message from the Secretary of the Army Thursday.

The Honorable Thomas White visited Fort Rucker for briefings and discussions, and to observe the training and facilities on post. He also presented the Bronze Star Award to three soldiers from the U.S. Army Safety Center.

White talked about Fort Rucker's critical participation if war with Iraq is launched. The Secretary said war is not imminent but said something must be done about Saddam Hussein.

White also talked about "possible" pay raises for the military for each of the next three years.
