Man Fails to Register As a Sex Offender Arrested

Houston County deputies arrested a man they say failed to register as a sex offender in another state.

47-year-old Charles Townsend was taken into custody at a DUI checkpoint in Dothan.

Deputies stopped Townsend and found he had a warrant for his arrest in Virginia.

Investigators say Townsend was convicted of sex crime in 2004 in Virginia and moved to Houston County 2-years ago.

He is charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

He's being held at the Houston County Jail on a 65,000 dollars bond.
