A $26 million budget was approved Monday by the Houston County Commission and there's a little give and take for county workers.

County employees received a 4.1 percent pay raise, but they're also being asked to shell out some of their own money for health-care premiums.

Commission Chairman Mark Culver said the county committed to fully funding employee health insurance several years ago.

But this year, premiums increased by 15 percent or nearly $200,000. Culver said employees are being asked to cover half that amount at an average cost of about $20 per month.

Culver said Houston County hopes to fully fund employee health insurance again in the future.
