It turns out a big inflatable SpongeBob SquarePants that police thought had been stolen from a Connecticut Burger King wasn't taken at all.
It melted into the Norwich building's rooftop heating system air ducts.
SpongeBob went missing late last month -- the same week Burger Kings in 14 states reported stolen displays featuring the cartoon star.
A maintenance crew hadn't told the Burger King's management that it had thrown out the deflated SpongeBob after the melting.
