The newly formed Alabama Hispanic Democratic Caucus is trying to persuade Hispanics to participate in the elections process.
The group has begun a voter registration drive using native Spanish speakers in hopes of boosting turnout in the Nov. 5 general election.
The 2000 census listed Alabama's Hispanic population at about 75,000 --10 times more than what was reported in 1990.
