Firefighters from around the Wiregrass fought to save a house in Headland this morning.
The 50 year old home of Carl and Nelle Johnson caught fire shortly after the couple left home around 7:30 am.
Several volunteer fire departments responded to the call and attempted to extinguish the flames.
But once the roof began to collapse, the scene was too dangerous to continue work on the inside.
The American Red Cross has offered to house the Johnson family while they wait for insurance estimates.
We'll have more on the story tonight.
