Fort Rucker Team Investigating U.S. Chopper Crash in Italy

ROME (AP) - There has been a deadly U.S. Army helicopter crash in northern Italy with at least four people confirmed dead.

A national fire official says four bodies have been pulled from the wreckage and six people who were injured have been sent to area medical centers.

He says it's possible a fifth person may have died at the hospital, but authorities at the scene have only confirmed four.

A senior Airman says the Army Black Hawk had taken off from the U.S. Air Force base in Aviano, near Venice.

The Black Hawk is the Army's general utility helicopter, used for transporting troops and equipment, air assault, medical evacuations and to support special operations.

The Fort Rucker team will lead the investigation in coordination with U.S Army Europe officials.
