Coffee County Economic Growth

The credit crisis reportedly has created a major sales drop in the national real estate market, but at least one Wiregrass county is showing growth.

An audit of the just completed 2007 fiscal budget shows the Coffee County School District had unexpected growth in revenues.

The budget indicates a 368,000 dollar increase in local tax money, includes both property and sales taxes.

District Superintendent, Linda Ingram, thanked the area communities for keeping their sales dollars at home.

The district overall operated on a 19-and-a-half million dollar budget.

The additional money allows the district to undertake several building renovations of its older schools
