Weekend Wreck

At least six people were killed in traffic accidents on Alabama highways over the weekend including one in the Wiregrass.

Around 6:50 Sunday night Newton resident 32-year old Michael L. Peters wrecked on Holland Road in Houston County.

He was transported to flowers hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Reportedly, Peters was about 100 yards from his residence when the vehicle he was driving flipped.

The case remains under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.

In Florida, 26-year-old Jason Adkins of Malone, was killed after he made a left turn into a private drive as another car was approaching.

21-year old Sammy L. Butler of Burton, Alabama was the driver of the other vehicle.

Butler sustained serious injuries.

41-year-old Pamela Dixson was also involved in the wreck, but only suffered minor injuries.

No seatbelts were worn by the drivers and it's not clear if alcohol was involved.
