Workers with disabilities and businesses that employ people with disabilities were recognized Friday at a luncheon.
The event was sponsored by Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
October is National Disabilities Employment Awareness Month.
Friday's luncheon is just one of 21-events scheduled this month to bring awareness for the need to provide opportunities to those with disabilities.
In Alabama, more than 600-thousand people have disabilities and more than half of those are of working age.
This was the 19th year workers with disabilities have been recognized.
