Abbeville Woman Injured in Hit and Run Accident

A busy highway was the scene of a hit and run early Wednesday morning.

Around 6AM, a woman was the victim of a hit and run on Highway 431 in Headland.

Headland Police received a call from a motorist who says he almost hit a woman on Highway 431 near Hopco.

When authorities arrived on the scene, they found Pamela Danzy of Abbeville sitting on the side of the road with injuries.

Danzy said the car that hit her and did not stop.

Kimberlee Ward, a local resident, says the accident does not surprise her.

She has been working at Headland Grocery for a year and says one too many people take their chances on the road.

“There's a lot of them that came off of 431 into our parking lot and just go across and [do] not pay any attention to our customers leaving. So we've almost had hit and runs out here in the parking lot,” says Ward.

Officials say they are investigating the accident.

The last report of Danzy’s condition is that she was in the hospital for surgery.
