Northwest Florida authorities are looking for two suspects who fatally shot a Jackson County man in cold blood.
Just after 10 o'clock Monday night, two men with guns entered a mobile home in the rural Browntown Community outside of Graceville.
The suspects reportedly were looking for money and other valuables.
At one point, a female occupant and her two young children were ordered into the trunk of her car.
Before leaving, the seven-year-old boy grabbed a cell phone and stuck it in his pocket.
Jackson County Sheriff John McDaniel said, "She was able to call in a matter of minutes. In fact, it may have saved their lives."
While inside the trunk, the woman reportedly heard the fatal gunshots, which killed her 31-year-old boyfriend Fredrick Gilbert
It is a terrible shock for the victim's family.
"Nothing like this has ever happened to our family. It’s a tragedy. Why did it have to happen, I don't know," says the victim’s brother, Dexter Gilbert.
Authorities say there was a warrant for Gilbert’s arrest on drug charges.
They believe the victim and suspects knew each other.
The suspects are described as black males, one is tall and thin; the other is short and stocky with tight hair braids.
They were last seen in a dark-colored Chevrolet Corsica.
