The Environmental Protection Agency says the current water treatment in Ashford needs improvement.
City officials plan to begin building a new water treatment plant as early as May of next year.
Only residents paying for sewage will be affected financially by this plant, but officials say everyone will enjoy the benefits of cleaner-smelling air.
Currently, the lagoon that the wastewater is treated in just is not enough to get the job done.
A public forum is scheduled in Ashford to inform residents as to why the new plant is needed.
The meeting will be held Monday night at 6 o'clock in the town council room in Ashford City Hall.
The city plans to have the plant completed by the Spring of 2009
