A Florida Department of Transportation hearing is set on a project to four-lane highway 77 from the coast to Interstate-10.
From 5:30 till 6:30 tonight, the DOT will hold a public hearing at the Blue Lake Community Center in Chipley on plans to do the four-lane work.
Governor Charlie Crist says his priority is to four-lane, the north-south roadway as a major hurricane evacuation route in the panhandle.
For several years, the highway has been undergoing expansion from the coast through Bay County.
DOT officials are waiting on funding, but the goal is to start the widening process from Interstate-10 heading south.
