Pilots Unhurt Following Emergency Landing in Cotton Field

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - There is a saying among pilots that any landing you walk away from is a good landing.

Such was the case Wednesday when a small engine Cessna aircraft crash landed just short of the Dothan Regional Airport runway late this morning.

Angela McNeil, airport marketing director, said the plane went down at around 11 a.m. when a pilot and co-pilot leaving Montgomery
en route to Tallahassee, Florida, experienced engine trouble and
had to make an emergency landing.

Apparently, the aircraft lost oil pressure and the engine quit. Fortunately, the pilot managed to land the plane in a cotton field off Wiggins Road in Dale County.

Both men walked away unharmed.

There were no reports of any visual damage to the plane and no extensive damage to the cotton field.
