Alabama will receive $2.4 million in federal funds to help emergency officials if there is a nuclear, biological or chemical attack.
The Department of Justice announced the funds would be used to purchase equipment for emergency response agencies including police, firefighters and emergency management personnel.
To qualify for the funds, which were awarded to all 50 states, officials first had to conduct assessments of the risk of such an attack and their ability to respond to them.
