The lockdown's been lifted inside the Illinois Capitol building, where a security guard was shot earlier this afternoon.
A spokesman for the secretary of state's office says somebody walked into the Springfield building and shot the guard before getting away in a vehicle.
Employees were told to stay in their offices as police surrounded the building.
Gov. Rod Blagejovich wasn't in the building, and the Legislature isn't in session.
The building doesn't have metal detectors, and its security guards are unarmed.
No word yet on the condition of the guard.
