Dothan Merchants say Football Traffic Could Mean Windfall

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Dothan area merchants say Saturday's college football games in Florida featuring Alabama and Auburn should provide an economic shot in the arm for the local economy.

An official with the city's Convention and Visitor's Bureau expects thousands of fans to pass through the city.

Alabama state troopers expect the heaviest traffic today and early tomorrow.

Alabama meets Florida State in Jacksonville while Auburn visits Florida in Gainesville.

The Florida Highway Patrol said traffic information is available by dialing 511 or you can log on to The patrol said the Web site is updated every 5 minutes.
