Authorities Catch Escaped Prisoner

Dothan residents can breathe a sigh of relief as authorities catch an escaped prisoner.

Edward Morgan has been on the run since Monday night when he escaped from authorities as he was being transported to another prison.

Authorities tell News 4; Morgan was captured after a citizen made a call to police around 7:30 Wednesday night.

The caller told police they saw him on the side of Highway 231.

Police responded and found Morgan in the Millmore Village trailer park, across the street from the Wal-Mart where he escaped.

He had been hiding out two days with no food or water.

During the interview Morgan said he was walking to turn himself in, suffering from poison oak after hiding in the woods.

Morgan is currently receiving treatment at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center under tight security for the poison oak that police say covered his body.
