WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) announced she is co-sponsoring legislation offering protection to the many Americans whose health care plans are being cancelled because of ObamaCare.
When championing his healthcare law over a period of five years before and after its passage, President Obama repeatedly promised Americans in no uncertain terms that, “If you like your healthcare plan, you will be able to keep your healthcare plan. Period.” Now, as the law is being implemented, millions of Americans, including many in Alabama, are seeing their health care plans cancelled or altered because they do not comply with ObamaCare regulations.
On Monday, an NBC News investigation revealed that the Obama Administration knew a large portion of the individual insurance market would lose coverage because the Department of Health and Human Services tweaked a regulation meant to “grandfather in” existing plans.
The “Keep Your Health Plan Act,” authored by Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI), would ensure individual policy holders who like their healthcare are truly allowed to keep it as the President originally promised.
In a video statement, Rep. Roby said Americans are suffering because of President Obama’s broken promises, and Congress must act quickly.
