The Ford truck was escorted by other fire trucks to the museum on Friday with sirens wailing, including those from the Pooler, Isle of Hope, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield fire departments.

The museum introduced the truck on the same day the Eighth Air Force celebrated its 69th anniversary.

The fire truck was one of two stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in 1941 and remained at that site until 1948.

The Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department later bought the truck and donated it to the Fort Stewart Museum in 2000.
