The Georgia Young Farmers Association hosts a summer tour to educate farmers about the industry.
The tour showcased various agriculture businesses and farm sites. With the farming population dwindling, farmers attending the event learned about the importance of being able to produce and provide more food and fiber for the population. Although every farm is different the common practices of proper sanitation and use of technology can all be beneficial to farmers.
"Food Safety is really getting to be a real large part of what we do here and we're exposing it to the farmer and helping them understand what the mission is to feed the world," said Marcus Carter, the owner of Lewis M. Carter Manufacturing Company Incorporated.
Georgia currently has 52 active Young Farmer chapters this makes them the largest Young Farmer membership group in the nation.
