Two Macon Police Off Force After Theft Charges

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Two Macon police officers charged with stealing a tractor are no longer employed with the police department.

The owner says he used a GPS to locate the tractor at Guidry's home in Monroe County.

Reports say that police announced the change in a one-sentence news release Saturday.

Earlier, police had declined comment on the job status of Troy Guidry and Jon Wantz.

A tractor worth nearly $25,000 was reported stolen from a Macon plumbing business late Wednesday or early Thursday.

The two ex-officers are charged with theft, criminal trespassing and violating their oath. It's unclear if they have lawyers.
