The Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant will activate the tone alert radios and sirens in Gordon, Ashford and Columbia, Ala. on Monday, Sept. 17 at 5:45 p.m. CST.
Immediately following the activation, contractors from Vantage Sourcing will perform a brief telephone survey of the residents in those areas.
Residents living within Plant Farley’s Emergency Preparedness Zone (EPZ) in the Gordon, Ashford and Columbia areas are encouraged to participate by listening to the tone alert radios and sirens to confirm they are audible and working as expected.
The five-minute survey will evaluate the effectiveness and coverage of the alert notification systems.
The activity is no cause for concern, as it is all a part of the emergency response simulated event.
