Some Southwest Georgia residents will be paying more for their property.
The Seminole County Board of Commissioners tentatively adopted a new millage rate.
The new rate will increase property taxes by 3.44%.
Property with a fair market value of $40,000 would see a $7.80 increase.
For property worth $80,000, the increase would be $15.62.
Taxes on property worth $120,000 would go up more than $23.00.
"That's a pretty good increase. I don't have that much property but I do know people that do have property and that's kind of a good jump," Seminole County resident Marion Walker said.
Commissioners want to hear from residents.
They're holding a public hearing next Wednesday, September 12th.
It will be at the Seminole County Courthouse at 6:00 p.m.
