ATHENS, Ga. (AP) -- An Oconee County handyman has been arrested and charged with beating a 73-year-old customer in a dispute over money.
Police accuse Jacob Potter Wagner of beating 73-year-old Judith Gilvey in the face and head on Thursday. The woman called 911, and medics found her bloodied inside her home.
Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry told The Athens Banner-Herald that officers found the suspect's car and located him in nearby woods. He was charged with aggravated battery and held in jail without bond. A .22-caliber rifle was found in his car.
It was not clear Saturday if Wagner had an attorney.
The victim was in intensive care on Friday at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Berry said several items were taken from the woman's home, but he declined to provide more details.
