Governor Robert Bentley announced today that Alabama's preliminary April unemployment rate is 7.2%, down from March's revised rate of 7.4%.
The state added 8,000 jobs over the month of April.
The last time Alabama's unemployment rate was at or below 7.2% was in November 2008.
Coffee County has one of the lowest rates in Alabama, coming in at 5.3%.
Florida's unemployment rate dropped 0.3% as well, while Georgia's unemployment numbers slipped by 0.1%.
