Man Charged with Murder of Savannah Man Last Year

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) -- A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of a Savannah man during a robbery attempt last November.

Savannah-Chatham County police said in a news release that Malcolm Kwame Brown was arrested Wednesday on the 200 block of Avery Street, ending an investigation of almost nine months.

Brown is charged in the shooting death of 34-year-old Jonathan David Brazell on Nov. 13, 2011.

Brazell was walking in a neighborhood just before 7 p.m. when two men in a car stopped and began a conversation. Brazell was shot afterward and was taken to Memorial University Medical Center -- where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say Brown has a history of arrests dating back to January with charges including robbery, obstruction, theft by receiving, simple battery and probation violation.
