Tropical Storm Isaac continues to move to the West as it threatens areas in the Caribbean.
As of the 4am Central Time Advisory from the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Isaac still had sustained winds of 45 miles per hour (75 kilometers per hour) and was moving to the west at 15 miles per hour.
A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Haiti. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Dominican Republic, parts of Cuba, and parts of the Central Bahamas.
Life-threatening flooding could threaten Cuba, Haiti and other areas in the Caribbean.
The storm, while moving to the west now, is expected to turn to the Northwest tonight.
Strengthening is expected over the extremely warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
The current projected path does take the storm into the Gulf and a possible landfall somewhere on the Gulf Coast. However, with Isaac being several days away from a United States landfall, that path could easily change.
