MOULTRIE, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say 32 people are facing charges in connection with what they describe as a cockfighting ring in south Georgia.

Colquitt and Lowndes County sheriff's departments, animal control officers and human society representatives showed up with a search warrant at a property on Georgia Highway 256 in Colquitt County on Saturday.

Colquitt County sheriff's chief investigator Shannon Hart says the 32 suspects are charged with being a party to cruelty to animals. Hart said the arrests are the result of an investigation that's been ongoing for about a month.

Names of the suspects were not immediately released.

If you don't use left over roosters for fighting you can wring their necks and put them in the stew pot. They are quite good stewed for broth and you can debone him and chicken pot pie is tasty. I have one locked up in a pen for a alarm clock, he sounds his alarm at 4 o'clock every morning. My neighbor culls his chickens of roosters. You can have 1 male rooster per flock. My rooster is about 3 years old.And he lacks for nothing except a wife.
