Georgia Parole Board Elects New Chairman

ATLANTA (AP) -- A former state representative has been elected chairman of the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

The board on Tuesday elected Terry Barnard of McIntosh County as chairman.

Barnard has served the past two years as vice chairman of the parole board. He was first appointed to the board by Gov. Sonny Perdue in May of 2010.

The board this week also elected James Mills of Gainesville as vice chairman. Mills was appointed to the Parole Board by Gov. Nathan Deal in November 2011.
