Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead says state police and Greene County sheriff's officials stopped Johnathon Nathaniel Kelly, who was speeding along Interstate 20.

Authorities say they saw a 17-year-old girl from Birmingham, Ala. riding in the passenger's seat of Kelly's vehicle and who told a deputy she was being held against her will for sexual purposes.

Police contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and learned the girl had been bought and sold for sexual purposes in four states since she was 12.

The girl was turned over to the Department of Family and Children's services for medical treatment. It is unclear when Kelly was arrested or if he has a lawyer.
