Georgia Launches Circus Reading Program

ATLANTA (AP) -- The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning has partnered with a circus company to promote early childhood literacy.

Department Spokesman Reg Griffin says the agency has joined the Yaarab Shrine Circus and Fair to offer a free circus ticket to children for every book they read outside the classroom.

Participants must join the Red Fez Reading Club and officials say children may receive up to five free tickets.

The Yaarab Shrine Circus and Fair is scheduled to visit the Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta between May 3 and May 12, and officials say children who register by May 11 will be eligible to win one of 10 circus-themed children's books.
