GA School Districts on Statewide Data System

ATLANTA (AP) - Nearly all of Georgia's 180 school districts have
signed on to a statewide student information system that puts test,
attendance and other statistics for each child at educators' finger
tips.

Bob Swiggum with the Georgia Department of Education told state
lawmakers Thursday that the rest of the school districts will be
brought on to the system in coming months.

The program helps educators track how students are doing in
classes with four years' worth of academic data.

It also tracks students throughout their school career.

The system is part of the state's "Race to the Top" program.

Georgia won $400 million from the federal grant competition last
year.
