ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities across the state of Georgia will be out in force this summer for the Operation Zero Tolerance campaign aimed at cracking down on drunk driving.

The campaign began Friday and will last through the July 4 travel period. It will include hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the state.

Last year, nearly 400 people were killed during the Fourth of July holiday break nationwide. Nearly 40 percent of those involved at least one intoxicated driver.

Georgia saw 298 alcohol-related fatalities on roadways in 2010, more than one-quarter of traffic deaths.
