An Alabama town is coming together for the sake of community.

This weekend marks the 3rd Annual Community Picnic in the town of Columbia.

The event is put on by the community as a whole.

Ward Wilson funeral home will provide the free meal, while the police department will be serving.

For kids - the Houston County cheerleaders will be face painting and the Watermark Praise Band will perform.

"It just lets the people back to old times of having a get together, sitting around, catching up on old times with each other and visiting. It's just a fellowship of the community," Sgt. Jerry Sasnett with the Columbia Police Department said.

The picnic is this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Columbia Recreation Pavilion.
