The principal and two staff members at Scarborough Middle School were fired in 2008 and stripped of their teaching certificates in what Mobile County school officials say was the county's worst case of cheating.

According to state records, the incident involved four eighth-graders whose Stanford Achievement Test answer sheets were erased and revised.

The Mobile Press-Register reports the newspaper sought documents pertaining to any state investigations into local school testing after the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in March that irregularities on Mobile County's standardized test scores strongly indicated cheating.

According to the state documents, there were four major cheating investigations in Mobile County schools since 2002.

The others were at Mae Eanes Middle, Denton Middle and Augusta Evans Special School.

In each of those cases, school employees lost their jobs.
