NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities say a businessman was in serious condition after being shot in the head during an attempted robbery of his business service and tax office outside Atlanta.
Gwinnett County police Cpl. Jake Smith says 56-year-old Damien Ekezie was working at his Norcross business when an armed man entered the store around 5 p.m. Monday.
Police tell The Gwinnett Daily Post that a 20-year-old suspect tried to rob Ekezie at gunpoint.
Police say there was a struggle and the businessman was shot once in the head.
Smith said the businessman chased the suspect from the office and was able to speak briefly to officers before he was taken to a local hospital.
Police say detectives were questioning the suspect Monday night.
