Atlanta, GA - Currently 49 states let undocumented students attend public universities, but that could be about to change in Georgia.
A bill allowing the state to keep undocumented students out of public universities passed a house committee today.
Opponents say the bill would hurt the university system's reputation.
An audit shows there are 29 illegal students in the state. Currently, undocumented students pay out-of-state tuition.
The bill must now pass in both state houses and be signed by Governor Nathan Deal.
