FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) -- A former Fred's store employee charged earlier this month with an armed robbery at a Fred's in Georgia is now charged with shooting two people at a Fred's in Alabama.
Reports suggest the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department announced Friday that 45-year-old Kelly Jack Mayo of Fort Payne had been indicted on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied building and one count of robbery. Two Fred's employees in Rainsville were wounded when a gunman fired shots through the store's front door on Aug. 24.
Mayo was arrested in Cedartown, Ga., on Oct. 4 when police say they broke up an armed robbery and kidnapping at a Fred's store. Court records in Alabama do no indicate if he has an attorney.
