DORA, Ala. (AP) -- An Alabama man now holds a world record for fishing.

The International Game Fish Association has awarded James R. Bramlett of Dora a world record for a landlocked striped bass he caught in the Black Warrior River in February.

Bramlett's fish weighed in at a whopping 69 pounds. The fish was 44.1 inches long and had a girth of 37.75 inches.

The fishing organization notified Bramlett that he had the record on Monday.

Bramlett's fish beats the old record by more than a pound. It's now at a taxidermist being mounted.

Bramlett caught the fish near the Gorgas Steam Plant on Feb. 28. It took him 25 minutes to land the big striper.
