Fulton County, Ga., Jailers Accused of Obstruction

ATLANTA (AP) - Two more Fulton County jail officers have been
arrested on charges of filing a false report, making false statements to federal agents and obstruction of justice.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents on Monday arrested 34-year-old Derontay Aanton Langford of Fairburn and 46-year-old Mitnee Markette Jones of Atlanta.

They are accused of omitting material information regarding an encounter with a mentally ill inmate, Richard Glasco, who died in custody on March 18, 2008.

Langford and Jones appeared separately before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Christopher Hagy hours after their arrests and pleaded not guilty. Each was released on $10,000 bond.

U.S. Attorney David E. Nahmias says the investigation into the suspicious death of the inmate is continuing, as well as other
incidents involving alleged unreasonable use of force against
inmates.
