DUBLIN, Ga. (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to attacking his
estranged wife four years ago during a drug-induced rage has been
sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
Laurens County Superior Court Judge Stan Smith also sentenced
Kenneth Wright to 12 1/2 years' probation and ordered him to stay
away from his ex-wife, Belinda Wright.
Authorities say Kenneth Wright attacked his wife at work on Dec.
15, 2005, dragging her into a bathroom and stabbing her repeatedly
with a box cutter and a knife.
The couple had separated a few weeks before the assault because of Kenneth Wright's drug and alcohol abuse.
Kenneth Wright has testified that he had been on a drug binge in
the days leading up to the attack and doesn't remember assaulting
