JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Clayton County police say a 1-year-old boy
was killed when he was struck by a car driven by a relative backing
out of a parking space at a church.
Clayton County Police spokesman Officer Kevin Hughes says the
woman told police she felt a bump Monday afternoon while she was
backing out and stopped her car, then spotted the boy lying in the
Hughes says family members rushed the boy to Southern Regional
Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver told officers she had locked the church door with the
boy inside before climbing into her car. Police were investigating
how the child got outside.
Police did not immediately release the boy's name. Hughes says the driver has not been charged.
