There were grins of jubilation in front of computer monitors all over the world on Friday, March 20, when thousands of giant panda fans realized that their favorite virtual pastime – Zoo Atlanta’s PandaCam – was live and running once more.
Discontinued on December 31 for budgetary reasons, the Zoo’s beloved online feature returned at 10 a.m. today, revealing 6-month-old Xi Lan clowning in his dayroom at the Arthur M. Blank Giant Panda Conservation Center.
PandaCam’s return was made possible by a sponsorship from partners at EarthCam.com.
An internationally-recognized authority in the network camera industry, EarthCam.com offers the world’s most comprehensive search engine of live webcams.
An additional gift from Mara Strock of Burke, Va., will cover local server costs associated with operating PandaCam.
In more than 10 years online, PandaCam has consistently ranked among the top three most visited pages on zooatlanta.org
The feature will be available Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
