Town of Lula rejects liquor referendum

LULA, Ga. (AP) - Voters in the east Hall County town of Lula
have voted against the sale of packaged liquor.

The vote was 106-90 against the referendum.

A total of 183 people - about 20 percent of Lula's 1,000
registered voters - cast ballots in a special election yesterday.

Lula City Manager Dennis Bergin says a group of residents
collected enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot.
