Roswell man fighting to keep his chickens in yard

ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) - Roswell's Animal Control agency says Andrew
Wordes can't do what he's been doing for about four years - raising
chickens in his backyard.

Wordes says he ruffled the feathers of a former employee who
turned him in to animal control, which says his three coops and
three roosters are not allowed in the city.

Wordes says none of his neighbors have complained.

He says they leave egg cartons on his door with their name on
them and if he has extra eggs, he puts them in the cartons.

The city attorney says the code doesn't allow for poultry in
residential areas.

Wordes' case goes to Roswell Municipal Court for a hearing on
Thursday.
