CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) - Carroll County authorities confirm that
three people aboard a small airplane were killed when the plane
crashed Sunday morning into a private pond west of Atlanta.

The Cessna 182 reportedly was headed toward the Kobalt Tools 500
NASCAR race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway south of Atlanta when it
crashed about 9 a.m., but an Federal Aviation Administration
official could not confirm its destination.

The plane was submerged in a pond about three miles southwest of
the State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, about 40 miles
west of Atlanta.

Names of the crash victims are not yet released.
