Faith-based groups in the Atlanta area are set to join a national action to support comprehensive immigration reform.
The groups plan to meet Saturday at the Tabernaculo de Atlanta in Norcross. The effort is spearheaded by U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, the chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus
immigration task force.
The national "Family Unity" Outreach Tour is scheduled to visit 17 cities over the next five weeks.
National Latino Christian leaders want the meetings to serve as a forum for church members to make their desire for comprehensive immigration reform and a moratorium on raids and deportations known to members of Congress.
Organizers of the Atlanta event expect between 3,000 and 5,000 people.
