PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (AP) - Savannah-Chatham County police are
investigating a crash between a freight train and a dump truck that
killed the truck's driver.
Police spokeswoman Judy Pal says the crash Friday morning also
caused minor damage to an Amtrak passenger train traveling on a
parallel track. None of the train's 118 passengers was hurt, and no
one was injured on the freight train.
The dump truck and freight train collided at the entrance to a
water treatment plant in Port Wentworth west of Savannah. The
driver's identity was not immediately released.
Pal says police weren't sure if the Amtrak train grazed the
truck or if it was hit by flying debris.
